In nearly two years of being mentored by Jan, I can say without hesitation that reaching out to her independently — outside of any formal programme — is one of the best professional decisions I have ever made in my 18-year career.
Jan is the kind of mentor that most people spend an entire career hoping to find. She guides, she challenges, she inspires — and she tells you the hard truths, even when you’re not sure you’re ready to hear them. That combination is rare, and it is powerful.
What I didn’t fully appreciate until I experienced it was how transformative it would be to have a Black female mentor — a woman who has navigated the same corporate environments I am navigating, who carries decades of hard-won experience, and who brings both professional rigour and deeply personal wisdom into every conversation. That is something no training programme, no book, and no amount of money can replicate.
One of the most pivotal moments in our mentorship came when I was preparing to go up for promotion. Jan didn’t just point me in the right direction — she shifted my entire mindset. She surfaced questions I hadn’t thought to ask. She helped me see what I deserved to request and, crucially, gave me the confidence and the framework to ask for it. She equipped me with an arsenal of tools, language, and perspective that I carried into every conversation about my progression — and in December of last year, I was promoted to Director. I earned that. I know I deserved it. But I also know that Jan gave me everything I needed to walk into that process fully prepared, fully grounded, and fully aware of my own worth.
She advocated for me behind the scenes in ways I may never fully know, and she helped me advocate for myself in ways I hadn’t believed were available to me.
Jan has been one of the strongest voices in my corner throughout this journey — steady, honest, generous, and unwavering. She has redefined what mentorship means to me, and I am deeply grateful to call her my mentor.”

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Jan over the past year. The dedication, passion, and professionalism are unmatched and evident in her eloquent speech and calm demeanor. A mountain of knowledge, always at hand to offer guidance and empowerment into the right channels, taking me that one step closer to understanding the road to success. 21, young and naive pursuing business ventures, your inexperience becomes evident and Jan has been there to help me every step of the way.

Vera Okojie’s Testimonial
8 years ago I was invited for an insight day at IBM London offices. I remember walking up to the big and shiny building in such awe, it was a completely new world! There I met the amazing Ms Jan Sinclair who gave me the advice to ‘study hard, start Linkedin and build my network!’. 6 years later, now an undergraduate at the University of Warwick, I got in touch with Jan via LinkedIn about advice on next steps. Again she gave me spot-on advice ‘realise the opportunity of technology!’. I went on to complete a placement year at Microsoft and a summer internship at Google. 3 days ago we spoke and she gave me advice on navigating life after university! All in all, I cannot stress the importance of mentors and appreciating their impact at key stages in your professional life! Thank you Jan for believing in me at the age of 14, now age 22 and beyond!

2016
Life’s most urgent and pertinent question is what have I done for others? Martin Luther King.
I re-established my connection with jan by chance during my first redundancy experience. Her expertise in coaching and development were invaluable during this time. Jan provided an independent view point for me to Evaluate my needs and wants for a job, formulate my strengths, prepare for interviews and set smart objectives throughout my redundancy experience. I found our regular chats so useful (and I can’t stress this enough) to keep the momentum of searching for work manageable in line with day to day life and previous job commitments. Since finding work, she’s regularly followed up with me, to help continue my development. Her style is personal, and i find she listens before helping me to devise a plan through my recent challenge I was/ am facing whether this was finding jobs to apply for, cv writing, interview prep, doing a big job assignment etc . I cant thank her enough and would recommend her services as everyone needs a Jan
In 2016 I had pretty much given up any real hope of buying a property. My deposit was okay but not substantial. It wasn’t long after I started viewing properties that I realized any properties within my budget would require a lot of work and/or were in areas I did not want to move to.A chance meeting with Jan resulted in us arranging to discuss where I was in life’s journey and what more I wanted to achieve. I was sure changing jobs was the answer!Through talking to Jan she helped me to clearly identify my priorities and so my search for a place I could call my own was revived. I was not hopeful but Jan insisted I should not give up – that I should continue to explore all my options. She was very positive and helped me to start believing that anything is possible. I had to dig deep.I was also able to talk about life in general and was re-assured to know that out discussions would remain confidential. In April 2017 I was handed the keys of what is now my home. “Thank you Jan!”
